Silence
Poem #2
The stillness and the quiet
The stillness and the quiet
Silence reveals itself,
its dense invisible body,
its many limbs,
only to those who understand
that it cannot be measured in time.
Silence is the pause between the beats
And it lasts forever
If you go on waiting for the beat
It will put its unseen hands over your eyes and ears
It will slide its fingers to the back of your tongue
If you go on waiting for the beat,
All you will see and hear
And taste
Is silence
It will climb on your back
It will crawl into your belly
The only way to see or hear anything else
Is to accept the companionship of silence
Let it sit with you
In friendship do we become
In the tiniest of ways
Made of the same stuff
As our friends
So make friends with silence
And find that your toes and your finger tips are silent too
That your heart beats silently
And nobody can hear your breathing
The beat will come
It always does
But now
Only one thing
We are with silence
